IBDR Appliance Backup schedules take into consideration the time zone which is configured on the device. Incorrect configuration of the time zone may cause issues, for example backup jobs are started outside of backup timeframe, wrong date or time of the notifications, log files and messages. In the article we will review how to configure time zone on the appliance.
There are 2 ways to set the time zone, first one is to use NTP (Network Time Protocol) servers for time sync based on time zone and manual configuration.
Prerequisites:
- You are logged in IBDR Appliance Management Console

How to configure Time zone via NTP server
Step 1 - Selecting NTP Server as Time Update method
This method is used by default on IBDR Appliance and it is recommended.
Step 2 - Setting Time Zone
It is recommended to select the time zone where this IBDR Appliance is located to avoid confusion why backup job start time is different.
Step 3 - Applying the settings
Once time zone is set, it is necessary to press "Apply" button to apply the settings
Step 4 - Updating current time
You can update the current time pressing "Update time via the first NTP server" button
How to modify the list of NTP servers
Step 1 - Adjusting NTP Servers list
It is possible to modify the list of NTP servers which will be used by IBDR Appliance. You can find default configuration on a screenshot below.
You can delete the NTP server from the list selecting the server and clicking Remove.
Using the Up and Down buttons you can move selected NTP server in the list.
Note: IBDR Appliance will sync time zone with the first reachable NTP server.
Entering the hostname or IP address and clicking Add button will add the specified server to the end of this list.
Step 2 - Applying the settings
Once the list is adjusted, it is necessary to click "Apply" button to apply the settings.
How to configure Date and Time manually
Step 1 - Selecting Manual Configuration as Time Update method
This method is acceptable if IBDR Appliance is behind a firewall and according to security policies should not communicate with external resources (including NTP servers). However, if it is the case, it is still recommended to use an NTP server deployed in the LAN.
Step 2 - Configuring Date and Time in Manual Time Configuration box
If Manual Configuration is selected, Manual Time Configuration box is enabled so you can specify local date and time.
Step 3 - Applying the settings
Once Date and Time is set, it is necessary to click "Apply" button to apply the settings.
