How to download a backup job from the Hybrid Cloud to the Primary IBDR Appliance

Introduction

The failback process involves restoring operations from the Disaster Recovery (DR) environment back to the primary infrastructure. Backup jobs cannot be directly transferred from the DR appliance in the Hybrid Cloud to the Primary IBDR Appliance. Instead, these jobs must first be replicated to cloud storage before they can be moved to the primary appliance. This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to download a backup job to the Primary Appliance from the Hybrid Cloud.

Prerequisites

  1. Backup jobs for the machines running in the Hybrid Cloud are completed and replicated to the Google Cloud Storage.
  2. Primary IBDR Appliance is configured and connected to the Hybrid Cloud.
  3. Primary site is ready for a recovery.

Instructions

1) Access the Primary Appliance.
Notes
If you are in the same LAN (Local Area Network) you can access the Primary IBDR Appliance via IP address. For Instructions on how to do this, please visit this article.
In the case you are NOT in the same network, but the Primary IBDR Appliance is registered, you can access it via the Infrascale Dashboard. For Instructions on how to do this, please visit this article.

2) Select the Cloud tab. You will see a list of backup jobs that were replicated to the Google Cloud Storage.

3) Select the backup job you wish to download to the Primary Appliance and click Pull Back From Cloud.

4) Click on Yes to confirm.

You will get a confirmation that the job has been submitted. Click OK.

5) You can track the progress of the backup job being pulled from the cloud under Replication > Pulled Jobs.

6) Once the job is pulled back to the primary appliance from the Hybrid Cloud, it will appear in the Jobs > History tab in a pinned state.

Notes
Having the backup job on the primary appliance you can follow the standard IBDR Appliance restore process. The exact steps will depend on the backup type. You can find these steps using the following links:
